Sofía Vergara and the cast of Modern Family at the 2024 SAG Awards Matt Winkelmeyer/Getty Images The Pritchett family recently enjoyed a grown-up evening at the 2024 SAG Awards, and Sofía Vergara ensured every moment was captured.
On February 24, the parental figures of Modern Family graced the stage to present the award for best ensemble in a comedy series, an accolade the cast clinched four times during the show’s 11-year tenure from 2009 to 2020. “This really brings back memories,” Ty Burell reminisced with former colleagues Ed O’Neill, Julie Bowen, Eric Stonestreet, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, and Vergara. “You guys ever miss it?”
After some banter, O’Neill divulged his most missed aspect of filming the series: “The money.” Classic Jay Pritchett!
O’Neill wasn’t the only one embodying his character. Over on Instagram, Sofía Vergara shared several photos that Gloria Pritchett would have undoubtedly posted on her own feed—and I’m not just referring to the Instagram video showcasing her stunning red strapless gown by Laura Basci.
Of course, Vergara kicked off her Instagram roundup with a snapshot alongside her on-screen husband before proceeding to share photos with the rest of the cast. Gloria was always fiercely loyal to her man! “Gloria and Jay 4ever,” one fan gushed, adding, “BRING BACK MODERN FAMILY.”
However, it was the second snapshot that garnered the most attention from fans. “Phil in heaven,” one user commented on the picture, featuring Burrell and Stonestreet’s heads gravitating toward Vergara’s chest. Just to refresh your memory, Burrell portrayed Phil Dunphey, the affable dad married to Jay’s daughter Claire (Bowen). Look, we all know Phil had a little crush on Gloria throughout the series, but he remained completely devoted to his wife—and that’s a fact!
In fact, Burrell seemed to stay the most in character during a video Vergara filmed at their table… with the flash on. “Oh boy, it’s so bright,” he exclaimed, dramatically shielding his eyes. “It’s so bright!”
Honestly, is it any surprise this ensemble clinched the prestigious cast award four times?
