Since it was announced that Margot Robbie would star in Greta Gerwig’s film, her name has been inseparable from Barbie, reigniting our love for all things pink. Following its spectacular premiere last summer, anything related to Mattel’s iconic doll became a sensation.
The hype only intensified during the film’s promotion, with Margot channeling various Barbie personas at every opportunity. Styled by Andrew Mukamal, she embodied an ’80s Barbie (complete with a phone), a Chanel-clad fashionista Barbie, and a vintage Barbie replica in a 1959 bathing suit, among others.
Her arrival at the British Academy of Film and Television Arts Awards on February 16 was marked by a retro-inspired two-tone dress. As Margot Robbie graced the red carpet at the Royal Festival Hall in London, she wore a strapless dress combining baby pink (of course) and black.
The contrast extended beyond colors, encompassing textures as well, with satin fabric at the center and embroidered sequins on the sides. The design, featuring a fitted waist and straight fall, transformed her into a life-size Barbie with a retro flair, accentuated by opera gloves, which have enjoyed a resurgence in popularity since 2022.
Her hairstyle also garnered attention, boasting a sophisticated updo that exuded confidence, as if declaring, “Tonight belongs to the BAFTAs!” Her makeup remained understated yet impeccably executed: radiant skin, well-defined eyebrows, and nude lips, complemented by long earrings to complete the ensemble.
