It’s noticeable that since the beginning of 2024, more and more international celebrities have favored and chosen Vietnamese designs to appear on the red carpet at important events, marking the development of Vietnamese fashion in recent years.

While it’s not a recent phenomenon for international stars to favor the glamorous designs of Vietnamese designers, for designer Cong Tri, hailed as the “elder brother” of the Vietnamese fashion industry with over 20 years of experience, his creations have been worn by over 100 global celebrities. Just in 2023, nearly 40 international stars selected outstanding outfits by Cong Tri, including Adele, Katy Perry, Lisa (Blackpink), Janelle Monáe, and Hayley Atwell.

Le Thanh Hoa also kicked off 2024 with a list of celebrities wearing designs from his eponymous brand at major events such as the People’s Choice Award 2024, Red Dress Collection Concert 2024, Netflix Premiere, and The Black Music Collective’s Recording Academy Honors 2024. Le Thanh Hoa continues to make a Vietnamese impression on the international fashion map with impressive designs worn by female stars Zuri Hall, Erin Lim Rhodes, Alicia Hanah Kim, Jordan Sparks, and Samira Wiley.

Similarly, at the beginning of 2024, three stars chose gowns by designer Do Long to attend the Grammy Awards 2024. They were Emma Brooks McAllister and actress “Cat Woman” Izabella Metz. Particularly, after a dynamic and mesmerizing performance on the Grammy stage with the hit songs “SOS” and “Kill Bill,” singer SZA appeared on stage to accept the award in a fitted dress by Do Long. Do Long is also the creative mind behind many glamorous designs for numerous beauty queens and famous personalities in Vietnam.

Recently, Vietnamese fashion buzzed with news of Ariana Grande wearing an outfit inspired by Vietnamese designer Tran Hung’s tea flower for the promotion of her new album “Eternal Sunshine” and the music video for the second song “We Can’t Be Friends (Wait For Your Love)” on NBC’s “Saturday Night Live.” Tran Hung’s designs have been worn by many global stars such as Nicola Coughlan, Leigh-Anne, Heart Evangelista, Vick Hope, AJ Odudu, Huỳnh Thánh Y, Tống Uy Long, A Vân Ca at various events.

Vietnamese fashion has long been proud of its diversity, creativity, and sophistication in its collections through both designs and materials. The presence of international beauties wearing Vietnamese designers’ outfits on major red carpets is clear evidence of the development of Vietnam’s fashion industry. Being showcased on the international red carpet is not only an opportunity for Vietnamese designers’ works to be known but also demonstrates the potential of Vietnamese fashion. This has proven that despite facing many difficulties, Vietnamese fashion professionals remain persistent, creative, and constantly strive to reach new heights. The shining presence of Vietnamese fashion on the international red carpet is not only a source of pride for the Vietnamese people but also a great encouragement for fashion designers and industry professionals in Vietnam.

As the internet has blurred geographical boundaries, and helped Vietnamese creatives reach a global audience, we can eagerly anticipate collaborations between Vietnamese designers and international stars in the future.
